Quick Float on the New - July 27th, 2013

Brad and I floated from the dam to the first take out. We caught 10 and 7 respectively on g-tails. They were running 4 gates and the fast moving water kept the float time down to about 2 hours of fishing time. We caught some really good sized fish for this time of year in the 1 to 1.5lbs range. The high water had a heavy stain color to it.

Bluegills on Bluestone - July 26th, 2013

Brad and I fished the Stone on a nice September like cool July evening. We struggled to catch gills at a rate that we are used to a Bluestone. We ended up with 45 fish in 2.5 hours of fishing and maybe a half dozen good sized bluegills. Lots of mayflies but we were unable to get the fish to hit a fly rod for some reason.

Independence Day on the Greenbrier - July 4th, 2013

Brad and I floated 6 miles from Pence Springs to Talcott between 6am and 11pm. Brad caught 21 and I landed 10. G-tails produced the best, but the low clear water made the fish a tad skiddish. We saw a couple nice bass and I had about a 3 pounder miss on a fluke. Most of the fish we caught were 8 to 12 inches. The cool overcast morning gave way to a sunny afternoon.

Falling Water and Hard to Find Fish - July 3rd, 2013

JRock and I fished the Stone from 9am to 1pm with very little to show for it. We landed a few bluegills and a smaller bass or two. It was a nice overcast day to be on the water but the Corps had pulled about 5 feet of water off the lake. The falling water made for some tough fishing conditons.
