6 MIles on The Greenbrier - June 24th

Dusty and I floated from Pence Springs to Talcott on a nice overcast morning. We floated six miles for 6:30am til noon. We landed 25 fish a each. The fish came off of g  tials, KVD squarebills, and rebel crawls. I did catch a couple nicer fish on flukes...including one that weighed 3lbs. 9 oz.  We landed mnay smaller fish and redeyes but we had many keeper sized smallies and a couple in the high ones or two pound range. It was a nice float. The spring river bite is slowing some what due to hot summer temps. Days like these may be few and far between in the near future.

Cloudy With a Chance of Crappies - June 6th, 2013

Annalyn and I fished Bluestone Lake for 2 and a half hours today. The heavy overcast between rain showers made for not only a comfortable day to be outside but also turned the crappie on. We landed 27 fish on inline spinners up shallow, 21 of them were nice sized crappies up shallow in less than 3 feet of water. We caught 4 or so gills and a few more bass as well. I hooked and lost 2 nice bass in the 2 lbs. range. Black spinners with gold blade in the slightly stained water seemed to ge the trick.

New River Morning - June 1st, 2013

The elusive Charlie Lilly

JRod with a nice Smallie

JRod and I fished from the dam to the first bridge from 6:30 to 10am. We caught 25 smallies total. Jarod had the two nicest ones of the day. We ran it to a Charlie Lilly at daylight. Most of our fish came off G-tails. We did catch a few off of hard baits, but the grass is getting to thick for them to work in many places. It was  a great morning to be on the water before it gets hot and everybody shows up to start molesting the fish.

The Three Stoogies on Bluestone - May 31st, 2013

Jarod, Charlie, and I launched the Stratos outta Bertha since the launch ramp was closed due to Boat Race practice. It took forever to get there. There were very few people on the lake since the main ramp was blocked. It was a bright sunny day and there were a lot of small fish up shallow. The water was 72 degrees. We didn't get underway until about 10am and had to be off the water by 1:30pm. We had a fun day cutting up and carrying on and we even managed to catch a few fish.  We landed some big spawning bluegills, crappie up shallow, and a few bass. The biggest bass was 16 inches and our total for the day was around 30 fish between the three of us.
