Old School New River - May 10th, 2023

Tubes, G tails and flukes below the dam. Greg and I boater 40 total in 4.5 hours. We had 6 fish over 15” and 3 over 16”. Fish were living in slack pocket water shallow.

Rain Triggered Bite - May 9th, 2023

First three hours of overcast what I though perfect conditions led to nothing, two bites and one lost fish. Then the rain came and we caught almost 20 bass combined during and after the rain up Peak creek.  Really good case study on the effects of barometric pressure drops on fish.

Brad’s Summersville Birthday - May 8th, 2023

Great May Day on Summersville. I landed 15 and Brad landed 3. We lost maybe 6 more. Chartreuse flukes on points worked methodically were key. Hardly anyone else around today. We really had the lake to ourselves.

Sunday Afternoon on Bluestone - May 7th, 2023

A after church trip to Bluestone turned up 11 fish in 5 hours. All small mouth all on square bills and crank baits. Bertha was out producing Bull Falls on the day.  8 of our 11 can on the same 100 yards of bank. We missed a few others.

Slow Going Saturday- April 29th, 2023

The day after a big rain made for some real tough conditions on Clayor. The fish had vacated the shallows and seemed in a negative mood. They probably fed good yesterday as the rain was coming in.

Main Lake Post Cold Front Claytor - April 26th, 2023

Sustained cold front made the bite somewhat slow. Water temps still right at 61 or 62. The main lake produces some bites but coves, creeks, and cuts had nothing going on. It was like fish were quicker to move back up on main lake ledges after the front than farther back.

Greenbrier River Cold Front - April 22nd, 2023

No fish but a nice view. Lost one on a g tail 

Sunny Day on Clayor - April 20th, 2023

Water levels down about a foot in anticipation of rain coming in tomorrow along with high skies make for a bite you had to work for. It took finesse to get bit. Most fish cams on fall line or a little farther out. I caught 16 and Stan caught 4.  It was good day as always to be on the lake.

Senko Bass - April 20th, 2023

Pond bass eating senkos out in the middle on this after work family fishing outing. 

Full Tilt Spring - April 15th, 2023

62 to 65 degree water led to awesome fishing. We caught six species of fish and over 40 total. All fish in flukes and square bills. The kind of spring day I have been dreaming of. Biggest smallmouth was about 16” and biggest largemouth was about 17”.  Crazy part is we even saw a couple bass on a bed in the back of a cove.

First Fluke Bass of 2023 - April 12th, 2023

56 Degree water. I caught 6 and Stan caught 1. I caught 5 smallies on a fluke and one largemouth on a tube. First fluke fish of 2023

Preseason Pond Fishing - April 5th, 2023

Caught 12 in 2 hours. Most on Jackhammer with a few on a Senko. I lost a really big one to a break off .
