Summertime Spread Out - July 26th, 2020

Brad and I hit Brooks to Sandstone for the fourth time in as many weeks. Fish are staring to spread out more as day after day of heat continue. I did better in a plopper than fluke today. I lost one between 17 and 19” after a long fight. I did manage to land 13 fish with 5 over 12” and a couple over 14”. The fish are spread out more than weeks past.

Where the Shadeline Meets the Fallline- July 19th, 2020

Brad and I hit the river at daybreak. Early was slow. Fish are starting to really spread out in typical Summer pattern. Once the sun burned through the fog the fluke bite was on. To optimize it all you needed to do is to marry up the shade line with the fall line. We managed to catch 50 on our three hour three and half mile float.

Friday Evening on Bluestone - July 18th, 2020

Summer temps are heating up but the lake and some bluegills still provide some relief and fun. The lake was busy today and the heat made it tough to find bigger fish but the girls persevered and found a few.

Brooks to Sandstone at Daybreak July 11th, 2020

Brad and I floated from Brooks to Sandstone Falls at daylight. Bite was slow at day break but picked up from 7:30 to 9:30. I ended up catching 27 but  nothing over 13”. Most everything came off of flukes and plopper. Total we caught over 40 which is great for a a short 3.5 mile 3.5 hour float.

The Wolf of Wednesday- July 8th, 2020

Hit Claytor at daybreak. Water was warm almost 85 degrees in spots. Caught fish shallow on docks, wood, and rock points with fluke and KVD 1.0 in bluegill.  I think I caught 16 with 5 over 13”. Biggest was 16”. Saw some impressive art work on way home.

Holiday New River - July 5th, 2020

On a holiday Sunday after rye river has been beat on for last 48 hours you would think that the river would fish tough however Brad and I did not find that to be the case today. We caught over 40 before it got hot and humid at 10:00am. We caught them on everything we threw but they plopper and fluke stood out as good baits. Biggest was 16.25”.
